The way the surface of the clay is treated always preoccupies me. This series was created by applying many different layers of clay of various types and colors, while spinning on the wheel. The material stretches and flexes, alternately concealing and revealing the multiplicity of its inner layers—which intertwine and interact of their own volition—to create unique, intriguing surfaces reminiscent of an archeological excavation that exposes extinct layers of time and matter.
